The study of the curvature is one of the most interesting topics in Differential Geometry,and it is central in the study of semi–Riemannian Geometry. Jacobi operators andJacobi vector fields arise in a natural way in the study of geodesic variations as a measureof the geodesic deviation. Jacobi vector fields constitute a basic tool in the study of manygeometric problems. Although it is difficult to determine them explicitly, many propertiescan be obtained directly from the knowledge of the Jacobi operators.
